The Children’s Advocacy Center of SWFL (CAC) proudly announces the selection of Alicia Shannon as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2024. Shannon will be the third CEO in the agency’s history; the first being the Founder, Jill Turner, who dedicated her time to the mission for 38 years, followed by Julie Boudreaux, who continued the agency’s success for another five years.
Shannon brings nearly two decades of nonprofit experience and working with at-risk youth, education, and the child welfare system. Alicia is currently serving as the Executive Director of Our Mother’s Home and has helped the organization see a 100% revenue growth during her tenure there.
Alicia’s vision for the Children’s Advocacy Center includes increasing the agency’s community footprint and awareness, diversifying the revenue streams, and expanding the preventative programs that help families succeed by removing the barriers that are often factors in child abuse.
“Joining the Children’s Advocacy Center is more than a new role; it’s a journey that I am eager to embark on, driving growth and innovation. I am home,” says Shannon.
Jake Spanberger, Board President, adds, “Alicia’s leadership style and vision align perfectly with the agency’s mission and vision. She is poised to lead the Children’s Advocacy Center into its next chapter, and we are excited for the future.”
More about the Children’s Advocacy Center
Founded in 1981, the mission of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida (CAC) is to provide a coordinated response to child victims of abuse and neglect; and improve the lives of at-risk children and their families through prevention services. At CAC, we assess and treat children believed to have been physically or sexually abused or to be at-risk of such abuse and provide a safe place for them to come and be heard. We offer abuse determination services as well as therapeutic counseling, pet therapy, parenting education and prevention programs in Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Charlotte Counties.
We are one of the largest children’s advocacy centers in the state of Florida and the only one in the four-county area. CAC is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance. Visit us at www.cac-swfl.org for more information or to find out how to make a donation!
